Pray and Vote: Don't Sit Out This Election

Voting: Our Sacred Honor

Do you feel disillusioned and need inspiration to vote again? Well, that's common. Yet not voting only opens the door for worse people to attain power through the lack of accountability. Well, whenever some leaders disappoint us, they must not cause us to fail to appoint other leaders. Avoid the voter rebound error in which voters shift to personalities instead of policies. Check policies and hold your feelings in check.
Election 2026 features a vast number of people who feel disappointed and disillusioned by the worst of politics. We live in a fallen world. Nothing on this earth is perfect, that's for sure. But we must not abandon ship. We must not give up.
Warning: Many in 2026 wear moderate masks. But their misguided underlying agendas promote dangerous policies. Their campaign propaganda sounds appealing and reasonable but in reality their records show anti-God, anti-American extremes. For example, unfathomable infanticide (killing babies after birth) is gaining popularity in our country. Many pro-choice candidates actually support it through horrendous rationalization and confusing rhetoric. Tragically they're either already changing laws on the path to legalize it or they're planning to change more laws toward legalizing it if elected. That's truly horrific! So it's important to learn about candidates for yourself and to look beyond their rhetoric.
As Christians, we believe that we are called to participate in civics and that includes voting. We must not be indifferent this election. It is our responsibility to care and it is our sacred honor to vote.
First, too often people treat a vote like it's a prayer. It is not. A vote acts as an irreplaceable piece in a puzzle picturing the best policies offered. It's not a personal endorsement of a person. Rather, a vote is a selection of the policies espoused by a leader which aligns most with the voter. Voting is a selection of policies. Again, it's not a prayer: Only God is God. Speaking of Whom, we believe God desires us to seek Him about each responsibility as a citizen. Scripture teaches that we have a responsibility to overcome evil with good whenever possible. And Jesus said, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s” (Matthew 22:21).
Other reasons why voting remains important include the following:
· We as Christians are called to pray for our leaders and to be actively overcoming evil with good. Voting can enforce good policies to stop evil.
· Voting allows us to speak up for the vulnerable and stand up for what is right so that good can prevail.
· Voting honors those who sacrificed their lives for us. Every hero who fought and died defended our right to vote.
· Persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ around the world cannot vote. We dare not waste our voice while we still have it. Voting expresses your voice and choice of policies.
In summary, even if feeling disillusioned, everyone absolutely must vote and vote for candidates who mostly closely support Biblical principles. Pastor Greg Laurie said it well, “It is absolutely imperative that we as Christians vote in this election! Some say, “Vote your conscience.” That sounds nice but what if your conscience misleads you? I would say, vote Biblically. There are many issues at stake that we as Christians want to have influence on- The sanctity of life, the very definition of the family, our relationship with the nation Israel and so much more."
We must vote based on policy. All people -and candidates- are not perfect and we will never have perfection this side of heaven. There are critical issues on the ballot this year.
This year, Election Day is November 3. We urge you to vote according to Biblical policies in the election and beyond. We strongly encourage you to pray for our country and for our leaders. Rev. Billy Graham once said, "We should do everything we can to encourage and support good government—including voting. Understand the issues…know where the candidates stand on them…ask God to guide you—and then vote."
Together we can make a difference in our country. We must do our duty. We must pray and vote for the best choices for Biblical policies. No matter what happens, we know that God is sovereign and we can trust Him through it all.
We must share the truth with love –not a shove. We must pray. And we must vote.
God bless the USA, Carrie and Stacie

Election 2026 Q&As

Think of it this way: Election Day and Veterans Day pair well both in proximity on the calendar and in underlying meaning. Veterans have fought for our freedoms -including our ability to vote. When we vote, we put a stop to unbridled tyranny.
Q: Why vote when your first pick no longer appears on the ballot?
• Vote...because veterans died for your freedom to vote.
• Vote...because you're voting for policies -not the candidates themselves.
• Vote...because, if you refrain, our country will ultimately no longer be free.
• Vote...because you vote for policies...not candidates.
Q: How do you vote when you do not like any of the candidates? Again, voting for people does not equal endorsing their lives. Ideally, we vote for people whom we view as Godly, good examples of leadership. But, in an imperfect world in which a theocracy does not exist, we must vote for imperfect people with the policies that match most with our values. Voting for people means voting for the policies they have presented and with which you agree most.
Q: I think I won't vote this time. What do you think of that? Well, with all due respect, we would urge you to prayerfully reconsider. Why? Our brave servicemen and women spilled their blood in order to allow us the privilege to vote. We reinforce our freedoms via the right to vote. Citizens finally have the opportunity to defend our defenders when selecting a new commander in chief.

Render unto the Ballot Box

image
By Tony Perkins As Americans, we have the right to vote. With that right comes the power to choose our leaders and influence the values that guide our government. That right must be protected, but it must also be exercised.
There are roughly 250 million Americans eligible to vote. Yet in the 2022 midterm elections, fewer than half participated. Think about that. In a nation where government derives its authority from the consent of the governed, millions chose not to make their voices heard. And Christians are not exempt from this troubling pattern. Even where churchgoers vote at higher rates than the general population, far too many remain on the sidelines.
As Americans, we have a right to vote. As Christians, we also have a responsibility to be faithful citizens.
Remember Jesus’s words, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and to God the things that are God’s” (Matthew 22:21). In our constitutional republic, citizenship carries responsibilities. Our government was not designed for spectators. It depends on the participation of the people. Jesus also called his followers the salt of the earth and the light of the world. Salt that never touches the food cannot preserve it. Light hidden from view cannot illuminate the darkness. We’re called to make a difference, not withdraw from the world around us. Voting is simply one practical way to fulfill that calling.
Our freedoms were not secured so that we could stand aside while others decide how they will be used. The ballot is not the whole of faithful citizenship, but it is one of the clearest opportunities we have to act on our convictions.
In the late 1940s, the Reverend Peter Marshall, chaplain of the United States Senate, preached a sermon entitled “Trial by Fire,” drawing from Elijah’s challenge in I Kings: “If the Lord is God, follow him. But if Baal, follow him.” Marshall warned against living in a moral fog, refusing to choose between conviction and compromise. Then he declared, “I, for one, am tired of hearing about our rights and privileges as American citizens. The time has come. It is now when we ought to hear about the duties and responsibilities of our citizenship.”
Those words are as relevant today as when he spoke them. Because every election is about more than which party wins or who occupies an office. It’s about the principles that will shape our laws, protect our freedoms, and influence the lives of our children and grandchildren. When we stay home, we don’t stop those decisions from being made. We simply leave them to someone else.
So ask yourself: if people who share your convictions remain silent, whose values will shape America’s future? We cannot demand responsible government while neglecting our responsibility as citizens. Exercise your right. Fulfill your responsibility. Study the candidates, weigh the issues against biblical values, and then vote.

Dr. David Jeremiah explains why we must vote this midterm election. We must do our part! There are many self proclaimed Communists/Socialists on the ballot this election and we must not elect them. Get out and vote!

Let's Make Charlie Kirk Proud and Vote

In October 2024 Family Talk featured Charlie Kirk who was the founder and president of Turning Point USA. We post this in memory of Charlie. (Charlie starts speaking at the 7:20 mark.) Listen to him point out how the church has been largely quiet on political issues. He also challenges Christians to take a stand by voting, otherwise “the lasting legacy of the American church will be the destruction of this country.” In 2026, we do not want to let Charlie down. Make sure you vote...and vote Biblically!

Ask Billy Graham: Why Bother Voting?

image
Q. I'm sick of politicians and political campaigns, and I've decided I'm not going to vote this year. It wouldn't do any good anyway, because just one vote won't make any difference. Why bother?
A. Let me ask you a question: What would happen to our nation if everyone decided not to vote? You know the answer—before long we’d lose our freedoms and be ruled by a power-hungry dictatorship. No system of government is perfect, including ours—but all it will take to make it collapse is an indifferent citizenry.
But I also urge you to vote for another reason: I believe it is a God-given responsibility. When Jesus walked this earth, the whole civilized world was under the authority of one individual: the Roman emperor (or Caesar). He wasn’t elected by popular vote, nor did ordinary people have an opportunity to express their views through the ballot box. And the Roman government wasn’t perfect; in fact, it promoted paganism and could be brutal.
And yet Jesus taught that people still had a responsibility to encourage and support their government in every way they possibly could. He said, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s” (Matthew 22:21). The same principle is true for us today: We should do everything we can to encourage and support good government—including voting. Understand the issues…know where the candidates stand on them…ask God to guide you—and then vote.
Beyond that, however, pray for our nation and its leaders—not just the President, but all who’ve been entrusted with public office. It’s the most important thing you can do. The Bible commands us to pray for “all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness” (1 Timothy 2:2).

How to Know Jesus

Question: How do Stacie and Carrie know they'll go to Heaven?
Answer: It's not because of what they've done or who they are. It's because Jesus lives in them. Anything good in them is because of Jesus in them. They know God and His love in a personal way. They've followed what God said in His book: the Bible. They invited Jesus to be their Savior and Lord. You, too, can know God. Yes, He really does love you!
Take His Word for it:
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. -John 3:16 (NKJV)
For all have sinned; all fall short of God's glorious standard.-Rom. 3:23 (NLV)
For God sent Jesus to take the punishment for our sins and to satisfy God's anger against us. We are made right with God when we believe that Jesus shed his blood, sacrificing his life for us... -Rom. 3:25 (NLV)
That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. -Rom. 10:9 (NKJV)

Understand that God loves you with infinite love! God is good, holy and righteous and we fall short of His perfection. So we need a Mediator, Jesus, who lovingly took our punishment for all our mistakes.
Believe that Jesus is God's Son that took your punishment. He took your punishment for all your sins (anti-God ways) and that He rose from the dead for you, __________.
Repent (turn away from) your sins (anti-God ways) and submit yourself to Him as your Lord.
Receive Jesus as your personal Savior and Lord. Talk to God and give your life to Jesus.
Pray from your heart. If it helps, pray something like this:
God, I understand now...You sent Jesus to share Your love and make it possible for me to be Yours. Please forgive me for all my sins. Jesus, I believe you took my punishment on the cross and that you rose from the dead for me personally. I turn away from doing things "my way" and ask that You rule my life, Jesus. I receive You as my Savior and Lord. I put my trust in You not in the things I do. I love You. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
