7 Reasons Why Christians Must Vote for Romney

By Stacie Ruth and Carrie Beth Stoelting

To vote for Romney is to defend your right in America to tell the world about Jesus. Little wonder it disturbs us when we hear fellow Christians say it: "Well, I'm not voting for Romney because he's a Mormon." Why is it so disturbing? It reveals a misguided concept of voting promoted by the enemy.

We're not comparing religious beliefs here. We're just trying to convey the importance as evangelical Christians to defend religious liberty by voting for Romney-Ryan, a team that has vowed to uphold freedom of religion, our Constitutional right.

Obama is the most hostile president against Judeo-Christian values in history. We must rise up for our rights to share the Gospel unhindered!

7 Reasons Why Christians Must Vote for Romney

1. Reminder: Voting means picking the candidate whose policies most parallel our preferences. As someone said to us, "We're picking a president -not a pastor." We're sticking to our evangelical beliefs and not endorsing a candidate's entire belief system when we vote. Mitt Romney promotes policies that align closest to Christian priorities. To vote for him is not to turn your back on Jesus. In fact, not to vote for him is more like turning your back on promoting God's ways.

Consider this quote from Russell Moore, dean of the School of Theology at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary: "I heard someone in recent days say 'I would never vote for anyone who is not an authentically professing evangelical Christian. If that's the case, then as far as I can see, you have about three candidates in the last 100 years or so that I can think of that you could possibly vote for president of the United States..."

2. Not to vote or to vote for a "write-in" is wrong. Here's why: In this election, to not vote is to vote for President Obama, who is the most anti-Christian president to date as exhibited in his policies. (Click here for a condensed list of anti-Christian policies.) Refer here for a more exhaustive list of his anti-Christian activities.) He has promoted abortion and attacked religious liberty! Not to vote or to "write in" a candidate effectively promotes Christian persecution. Obama's actions reveal hostility to Judeo-Christian beliefs. He's mocked the Bible and admired one of the most hate-filled preachers (Jeremiah Wright) in America. A recent video showed him praising Jeremiah Wright. See it here.

Also, another video reveals Obama mocking the Bible and excluding God in quotes from the Declaration of Independence. Click here to see footage of Obama rejecting Christianity. (Parental discretion advised as Jeremiah Wright is shown cursing America. It's also shocking what Obama has said on camera.)

3. Obama's policies threaten the church and reveal preference to Islam over Christianity. On September 25, 2012 Barack Obama spoke these words before the United Nations. He boldly declared, "The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam." In fact, his promotion of Islam and secular views threaten the role of Christian organizations: He has tried to replace charities with secular government policies. By increasing government, he has been snuffing out the ability of Christians to practice our faith.

4. When Christians do nothing, evil does something. Historically, when voters split off into third party allegiance or refrain from voting, the wrong leader takes office and promotes evil policies. When Christians in Germany chose not to do something because of similar logic, Hitler rose into power. (Learn more about this in our book, America, Arise!.)

5. We must stop Obama's Administration from attacking religious liberty and increasing government roles while restricting the church. We must stop Obama so that we can apply James 1:27 which says, "Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you."

6. President Obama, while promoting socialistic policies, continues to be praised by evil socialistic leaders such as Hugo Chavez of Venezuela, who hates America yet loves Obama. (Hmmmm...Think about that!) In fact, Hugo Chavez just won another "election" yesterday. (The Obama Administration even congratulated Venezuela!) The actions of Chavez constantly scream evil socialism in the guise of religious talk...claiming to be Christian while doing anti-Christian things. (Judas claimed to be a Christian yet his actions spoke louder than his words.) Did you know that Chavez endorsed Obama? A friend of Chavez is no friend of America.

Socialism tries to pretend it's Christian while persecuting true Christians. Government must never replace the role of the church in providing for those in need. The Scriptures say that people should work and do it as to the Lord. We are not to be lazy/slothful. We're to love with deed and truth! If we're slothful, we risk much. "The hand of the diligent will rule, but the slothful will be put to forced labor." (Prov. 12:24)

7. To vote for Romney is to vote for policies that most allow us, as evangelical Christians, to practice our faith. Remember the lesson from Isaiah 35:3-4 (AMP): "Strengthen the weak hands and make firm the feeble and tottering knees. Say to those who are of a fearful and hasty heart, Be strong, fear not! Behold, your God will come with vengeance; with the recompense of God He will come and save you." Romney-Ryan will protect our freedom of religion. (Click here to see a one-minute video released by Gary Bauer that emphasizes that point.)

To vote for Romney is to defend your right in America to tell the world about Jesus. Again, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan have repeatedly emphasized that they will uphold our Constitutional right of freedom of religion. (By the way, do you know Jesus as your personal Savior and Lord? Click here to learn more.) No matter what the future holds, we will trust our Lord, Jesus Christ. He is in control.

During the election, we do not depend on a person for perfection. Rather, let's apply Psalm 56:10-11 (ESV): "In God, whose word I praise, in the Lord, whose word I praise,in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can man do to me?" Yes! In God -not man- we must trust!

Freedom of Religion Is Under Attack
We appreciate Christian leaders like Michael Farris, Tony Perkins, and Gary Bauer for trying to alert America to Obama's hostility towards Christianity. We need a new president who will defend religious freedom in America.

Pledge of Allegiance

"The Pledge of Allegiance" - by Senator John McCain

Navy Lt. Commander Mike Christian of Huntsville addresses the crowd on Mike Christian Day, April 7, 1973, after returning home from six years as a POW in Vietnam.

As you may know, I spent five and one half years as a prisoner of war during the Vietnam War. In the early years of our imprisonment, the NVA kept us in solitary confinement or two or three to a cell. In 1971 the NVA moved us from these conditions of isolation into large rooms with as many as 30 to 40 men to a room.

This was, as you can imagine, a wonderful change and was a direct result of the efforts of millions of Americans on behalf of a few hundred POWs 10,000 miles from home.

One of the men who moved into my room was a young man named Mike Christian.

Mike came from a small town near Selma , Alabama . He didn't wear a pair of shoes until he was 13 years old. At 17, he enlisted in the US Navy. He later earned a commission by going to Officer Training School . Then he became a Naval Flight Officer and was shot down and captured in 1967. Mike had a keen and deep appreciation of the opportunities this country and our military provide for people who want to work and want to succeed.

As part of the change in treatment, the Vietnamese allowed some prisoners to receive packages from home. In some of these packages were handkerchiefs, scarves and other items of clothing.

Mike got himself a bamboo needle. Over a period of a couple of months, he created an American flag and sewed it on the inside of his shirt.

Every afternoon, before we had a bowl of soup, we would hang Mike's shirt on the wall of the cell and say the Pledge of Allegiance.

I know the Pledge of Allegiance may not seem the most important part of our day now, but I can assure you that in that stark cell it was indeed the most important and meaningful event.

One day the Vietnamese searched our cell, as they did periodically, and discovered Mike's shirt with the flag sewn inside, and removed it.

That evening they returned, opened the door of the cell, and for the benefit of all of us, beat Mike Christian severely for the next couple of hours. Then, they opened the door of the cell and threw him in.

We cleaned him up as well as we could.

The cell in which we lived had a concrete slab in the middle on which we slept. Four naked light bulbs hung in each corner of the room.

As I said, we tried to clean up Mike as well as we could. After the excitement died down, I looked in the corner of the room, and sitting there beneath that dim light bulb with a piece of red cloth, another shirt and his bamboo needle, was my friend, Mike Christian. He was sitting there with his eyes almost shut from the beating he had received, making another American flag. He was not making the flag because it made Mike Christian feel better. He was making that flag because he knew how important it was to us to be able to Pledge our allegiance to our flag and country.

So the next time you say the Pledge of Allegiance, you must never forget the sacrifice and courage that thousands of Americans have made to build our nation and promote freedom around the world.

You must remember our duty, our honor, and our country.

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
